Welcome to the 2018/19 season at Discovery Ski Area, where we’re celebrating our EARLIEST OPENING EVER!!! Now that’s something to be excited about – in addition to the great news that we already have the Limelight lift open.
New This Year
Check out these boots! I challenge you to look at these tiny boots and envision the adventures a young kid will have. The unbridled enthusiasm as he or she takes on the physical challenges of skiing. The open-eyed excitement of a kid snow-plowing down the bunny hill or learning to snowboard is, without question, one of the best sights on any ski hill. Plus, new softer boot material makes them easier to put on and take off…clearly one of the most challenging parts of any young skier’s day. The orange is provided merely for size reference (and vitamin C).
Also new–for the first time ever, we’ll be offering a Kinderboard program! If you’ve got a little shredder in your family (age 3-6), consider the twice-daily instruction opportunities (similar to the existing Kinderski lessons). Our brand-new inventory, in all its itty-bitty glory, is ready to introduce your winter athlete to another activity on the slopes that they can enjoy forever.
The Rental Shop has also refreshed much of its inventory: youth skis and boots (120cm and below), Burton snowboard boots (sizes 5-11), various adult skis and snowboards. If you’re picking up season rentals this year, get them while they’re fresh and ride on a brand-new setup all winter! Season renters further benefit from the ability to swap throughout the season as kids grow, ensuring a comfortable fit.
In the Off-Season
Employees were busy this summer with some facility renovations. The men’s restroom benefited from an extreme overhaul, complete with a fancy new sink. Grounds keeping around the lodge provides some improved drainage below the Magic Carpet and some increased sunshine on the south deck. For those chilly lunches spent outside, we also have some new deck heaters. The Rental Shop received a fresh layer of paint, while the tables in the picnic area got a bit more intimate with more available seating. The decks even received a stain treatment, including the yurt!
Things to Note
